Cladding

All of our buildings are made from our own design 19mm shiplap cladding which has approx 19mm overlap on each plank.  

Our Summer Houses and Garden Rooms have a 22mm loglap cladding on the front of the buildings with the shiplap on the sides and backs.

Framework

Depending on the building you order we use either 35 x 45mm (sheds, summerhosues etc)  or 44 x 70mm (garden rooms and workshops) on all of our buildings.

Floor / Roof

All buildings have solid wooden floors and roofs as standard, we do not use chipboard or OSB.

All of our sheds require a solid level base.  We recommend concrete or paving slabs as a base.  However you could use runs of timbers / blocks.  We recommend full runs of timber / blocks no more that 2’ apart.  We also require you to let us know which way your timber / blocks are running so we can run ours the other way.

We recommend that you make your base 3” smaller on both dimensions than your building.  E.g for an 6’ x 8’ building the base would be 5’9” x 7’9”.  The reason for this is so there is no base showing for water to gather on or to bounce back up onto the building.

If you have an existing patio for example that is slightly out of level (1 – 2”) we can sometimes use a timber sub base.  This can be placed down onto your patio and then levelled.  The floor can then be placed on top.  For some examples on bases, please click Base Preparation below.

Our buildings have a base treatment in a light golden colour prior to delivery.  The customer then needs to treat the building with an oil based wood preservative as soon as possible after installation and at least once a year there after.  We sell an oil based preservative in a few colours: Red Cedar, Light Brown, Golden Brown and Holly Green.  Please contact the office for prices.

We use tanalised timbers in the floors of our buildings and in the sub bases, we do not however use tantalised timbers in the buildings.  In our experience tanalised timber can be very wet as the timber is left to dry naturally after the tantalising liquid is applied. 

Over time as the timber dries out and the moisture comes out of the timber is tends to shrink and warp.  This doesn’t normally pose a problem with decking / fencing however on a shed it could result in gaps in the shed. 

We use kiln dried timber and apply a base coat prior to delivery.  The customer then needs to treat with an oil / solvent based preservative as soon as possible after installation.  

As we make all of our buildings in our workshop we are able to make to your requirements. Extra doors and windows are available.

You need to use an oil or solvent based wood preservative not a water based.  Cuprinol Shades is water based and will only add colour to your building it will not protect it from water penetration, rot etc.  Sadolin Classic do a range of colours which are oil based.

Using the wrong type of paint may effect your 1 year warranty, please keep this in mind.

As standard all of our buildings come with a green mineral felt roof covering.  There is the option to upgrade to box profile sheets on the roof, which come in a range of colours, POA.

Yes we offer a service whereby we can make our buildings with PVC doors and windows.  Contact us to discuss options.

Depending on the size of the shed and the layout of the narrow or tight space (no tight turns for example as you go in through front door) some sheds may go through  without modifications.  We are able to make the panels in half for example for an additional charge. 

We would recommend one of our team call out to take a look prior to us manufacturing your building.

All of our buildings have overhangs on the roof which need to be taken into consideration. 

The apex models have more of an overhang than the pent models. We put all of our buildings together from the inside we do however need to put corners and felting patterns from the outside.  If you are unsure what size building will fit into the space, contact the office with sizes and we will be happy to advise you.  

Another thing to consider is you need to be able to get around the building to maintain it. 

As we make all of our buildings to order, we can make the buildings to suit your requirements.  We have examples for buildings we have made in our gallery.  Contact us with sizes and we will be happy to supply a quote.  A site visit might be required to check measurements.

We are able to make to your requirements.  Things to consider when looking to fit a building down the side of the house:

• Is the fence / house etc straight, therefore making the shed the same width all the way along and also top to bottom?

• There is an overhang on the roof of the building  so we cannot completely fill the space.

We are able to put doors at both ends if you need to gain access to gas box etc.

We offer the service whereby we can line and insulate the building for you.

We use: 

• 25mm Insulation boards

• T&G boards on the roof and walls

• 18mm Duraply on the floor

You can choose how much you want us to do and how much you want to do yourself.

We do recommend having the floor done prior to delivery as it is easier to do before the building goes up.  Similarly with the roof it is easier to do prior to installation.

We would need to know the sizes at the time of order, as you may need to upgrade to 3" x 2" framework and the building may need to be made taller to accomodate the door.

We leave an opening to the size of your door / window for you to fit them in once the building has been installed.

When we give our quotations, prices include delivery within a 30 mile radius of our workshop and installation to an easy access solid level base.
